We are pleased to announce Venture Scotland as our fundraising partner for the 2026 Buccleuch Property Challenge.
Established in 1987, Venture Scotland empowers young people aged 16-30, who are facing complex challenges, to first understand, and then improve their mental health and emotions and in doing so, change the course of their lives.
Venture Scotland does this by delivering a progressive outdoor-based personal development programme. Using Scotland’s natural environments, both remote and within local communities, their programmes deliver regular group-based outdoor activities (e.g. rock climbing, canoeing, gorge walking etc.), life skills sessions and bothy or camping residentials, backed up by 1-2-1 support sessions.
As a result, participants experience routine, caring relationships, safe spaces with peers, meaningful activity, mindfulness, regular sleeping and eating patterns, time away from technology and the scientifically-proven restorative effect of the outdoors.
The Buccleuch Property Challenge will take place on Friday 11th September at Drumlanrig Castle on the Queensberry Estate in Dumfries and Galloway. The six-hour team building corporate adventure race sees around 80 teams in three categories – mixed, men’s and women’s from across the property industry compete against each other for the trophy, whilst at the same time raising much needed funds for Venture Scotland.
The popular annual event is highly recognised within the industry for being a test of fitness, stamina and mental capacity with a range of outdoor pursuits including running, mountain biking, orienteering and surprise activities. Previous events have included paddle boarding, kayaking, obstacle courses and Highland Games; the course and activities change each year and are only revealed on the day.
Now in its 18th year, the Challenge has raised over £250,000 since it was established, helping a variety of charities, such as Ovarian Cancer Action, Borders Children’s Charity, Horse Time, Chris’s House and the Ella Dawson Foundation.
David Peck, Managing Director at Buccleuch Property, said:
“We are really delighted to welcome Venture Scotland as our charity partner for this year’s Challenge and see significant synergy with their objectives and connection with the great outdoors. It is a fabulous event that really challenges participants whether they are going for gold or just hoping to reach the finish line!”
David Brackenridge, Venture Scotland's CEO, said:
"Venture Scotland are very excited to be partners in the incredible Buccleuch Property Challenge this September. The funds raised will go directly towards supporting some of our community's most vulnerable young people. Many of our participants tell us that our programmes are life-saving. So, from myself and all at Venture Scotland - thank you to every one of the daring teams who sign up to this 6-hour adventure race to support young people when they need it most."
