We are delighted to announce Horse Time as our fundraising partner for the 2022 Buccleuch Property Challenge.

Based in the Scottish Borders, Horse Time specialises in providing individual equine enhanced psychological trauma therapy and group workshop programmes with feedback from horses. Their experienced trauma therapists are trained in evidence-based approaches that alleviate the symptoms of trauma, post-traumatic stress, PTSD, depression, anxiety, neglect, abuse, moral injury, and grief. Combining evidence-based trauma and therapeutic interventions with the psychological and emotional benefits of working in partnership with horses this unique combination creates opportunities for people of all ages and walks of life, from children to veterans, to overcome and adapt following adverse life experiences in a natural, non-clinical setting.

Taking place on Friday 9th September at Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries and Galloway, the six-hour corporate adventure challenge sees teams from across the property industry compete against each other for the trophy, whilst at the same time raising much needed funds for Horse Time. Up to 80 teams of 3 people will compete in three categories – mixed, men’s and women’s. The popular event is well known within the industry for being a test of fitness, stamina and mental capacity with a range of outdoor pursuits including running, mountain biking, orienteering and paddle boarding.

Now in its 15th year, the Challenge has raised over £200,000 since it was established, helping a variety of charities, such as Projekt 42, Childline, Ovarian Cancer Action and Borders Children’s Charity.

David Peck, Managing Director at Buccleuch Property, said:

“We always go through a rigorous selection process and like supporting smaller, local charities where our contribution can make a bigger difference so we are absolutely delighted to be supporting this very worthwhile cause and have seen first-hand the amazing work they do on the ground. As always, we will be seeking corporate sponsorship alongside holding a raffle and auction on the day and always welcome individual teams doing what they can too.”

Sue Brewis, Founder and Director at Horse Time, said:

“We are really looking forward to the 2022 Buccleuch Property Challenge and cannot express how grateful we are to have been chosen as the fundraising partner this year. Horse Time is experiencing a dramatic increase in the number of people trying to access our services. The pandemic has created and exacerbated mental health difficulties and we believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Evidence suggests that we are about to experience an unprecedented crisis in the mental health of our nation, and we need to make sure that effective treatment is available to everyone in need. Your fundraising efforts will help people to access the necessary specialist mental health interventions required to create an independent and sustainable recovery. True recovery creates the opportunity for everyone to live their life with meaning and purpose, allowing them to contribute positively to their community and provide a grounded support network for others who may be struggling. Thank you for your support.”
