Buccleuch Property, has successfully completed the sale of a prominent 1.1-acre development site at Granton Square, Edinburgh, to K&S Mir Ltd for £1.9m. The property, which comprises a mix of office, residential, studio and former church buildings extending to 38,251 sq ft, occupies a highly visible position within the heart of Edinburgh’s Waterfront regeneration area.
Granton Square is a well-known focal point within the north of the city, forming a key gateway to the wider Waterfront district. Once a hub of maritime industry, the surrounding area has undergone significant transformation in recent years, supported by the City of Edinburgh Council’s £1.3 billion regeneration framework. This long-term initiative is delivering new homes, commercial space and community facilities across more than 300 acres of former industrial land, reconnecting Granton to the city and its coastline.
The site itself has a varied history, with existing buildings reflecting its evolution from ecclesiastical and community use through to office and studio accommodation. Its prominent corner location at the Square places it within easy reach of the city centre, while benefitting from improved transport connections and public realm investment that are reshaping Granton as one of Edinburgh’s most dynamic development areas.
Angus Lutton of Buccleuch Property, commented: “We are very pleased to have achieved such a positive result. The strong response at the closing date demonstrates both the site’s development potential and the growing confidence in the future of the Granton Waterfront.”
The purchaser, K&S Mir Ltd, is expected to explore redevelopment opportunities for the site, subject to planning.
