Buccleuch Property together with our joint venture partner, Packaged Living, have received planning approval for their co‑living development in Woolwich, RB Greenwich. The partners have reached this milestone within a year of site acquisition and this consent marks the next important milestone in Packaged Living’s growing dedicated co‑living portfolio.
The approved scheme will deliver 156 high‑quality co‑living homes on a highly sustainable brownfield site overlooking Beresford Square. Currently occupied by an obsolete commercial building, the site will be transformed into a vibrant residential community featuring an extensive range of amenities. Spaces for co‑working, wellbeing and socialising are incorporated throughout the building, alongside private dining areas, a master chef kitchen and a landscaped roof terrace that offer valuable outdoor space for residents. At ground level, a publicly accessible restaurant will bring new activity to Beresford Square, contributing to the vibrancy of the area and helping support the local evening economy.
The development has been designed with sustainability at its core and is targeting BREEAM Excellent, aligning with our commitment to delivering energy‑efficient and environmentally responsible buildings. Its arrival will also support the ongoing regeneration of Woolwich, which has benefited from the opening of Crossrail and more than £20 million of recent investment into the public realm across Beresford Square and Powis Street. The transformation of this site will complement those improvements and the Royal Arsenal Riverside area located adjacent.
The Beresford Square scheme represents an excellent example of Packaged Living’s co‑living growth and strategy and sets a clear benchmark for the portfolio.
Sophie Leat, Associate Director at Packaged Living commented “We are delighted the planning committee shared our excitement for our Beresford Square proposals and we are now working hard to reach an early start on site. Our co living approach benefits greatly from our ‘one stop’ investor, developer, operator expertise in Multi Family and Single-Family housing and we look forward to similar success and growth trajectory.”
Sandy Smith, Development Director at Buccleuch Property commented “To see The Royal Borough of Greenwich Planning Committee unanimously vote to approve our co-living proposals for our at Beresford Square in Woolwich, just 12 months after we bought the property, is testament to all of the hard work and experience of our partners at Packaged Living as well as the entire professional team, in promoting the scheme."
