The Buccleuch Property Challenge is the ultimate six-hour non-stop team-building adventure race. Together with BlueSky Experiences we have designed the event to not only to test your fitness level but your mind as well. The annually changing course is created over different stages to include mountain biking, running, orienteering and surprise activities. Previous events have seen obstacle courses, kayaking and sumo suits – there’s always something different!

      Rise to the Challenge

Starting from the breathtaking Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfries and Galloway, teams of three travel together through all the stages, competing against the clock and collecting race points as they go through the different checkpoints. The team with the most points and fastest time will win the event. A key part of the race is to plan your tactics, think about timing and, most importantly, work as a team. The course is different every year and surprise activities are only revealed on the day itself.

The course is for everyone, from first timers to experienced adventure racers, although a reasonable degree of fitness will only increase the enjoyment of the day.

There are three categories; all male, all female or mixed and companies are welcome to enter multiple teams.

To celebrate the achievement and hard work of the competitors, we host a BBQ in the Castle Stableyard after the race. This is followed by a prize giving ceremony, auction and raffle to raise funds for our chosen charity of the year.

Our charity partner for 2025 is The Ella Dawson Foundation.  When Ella was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukaemia in her early twenties she discovered that wellbeing support tailored towards the unique needs of young adults with cancer in the UK was limited. She then set out to shape a blueprint of how young adults with cancer could be better supported holistically.  After her tragic death in 2021, Ella’s parents, Jane and Kevin and her sister, Tasha Dawson founded the charity to continue Ella’s work.  Now, The Ella Dawson Foundation works alongside a team of experts to enable young adults, aged 18-30 yrs old, and their families and carers access tailored wellbeing support packages unique to their needs at any stage of their cancer diagnosis within a safe, supporting and likeminded community.  For more information, please visit https://www.elladawsonfoundation.org.uk/
